Summary

PAYROLL

As an ERA client you will be provided a payroll specialist responsible for working with your designated payroll contact. This specialist will be available to advise and work with your contact on any payroll matters such as procedures, banking issues, and regulatory questions.

ERA has flexibility with regard to the transfer of payroll hours and earnings data to ERA for processing. The methodology of getting the necessary information to ERA is determined based upon the communications capabilities of each client. Once the data has been transferred to ERA, the rest will be handled for you.

As an ERA client, your employees will have the option of direct deposit of payroll checks, which helps alleviate problems such as lost checks and inconvenient banking hours. Other options such as administration of isolated payroll deductions (court ordered child support, IRS garnishments, etc.), can be handled by ERA.

Of course, ERA provides for your W-2, 940, and 941 filings as well as reporting on the state New Hire forms. We will provide you detailed payroll reports each pay period.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Human resources for years has been an afterthought to many businesses and a luxury to others because it was not considered central to the bottom line. As times have changed so has the importance of human resources - and not only to large corporations, but small entrepreneurs as well. An established approach to human resource practices is as important to the financial health of a company as any insurance coverage maintained to prevent catastrophic business losses.

ERA stays abreast of federal and state laws that impact personnel practices. This alone is a valuable resource for its clients. Most employers find it extremely difficult to keep up with the implications of laws such as Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, ADA, FLMA, HIPAA, Equal Pay Act, COBRA, etc. Not all such laws and regulations apply to all employers. Monitoring which do and when they do is a Human Resource function.

In addition, ERA Human Resources services include:

  • Employee handbook development

  • Assistance with EEOC claims and complaints

  • Drug free workplace policy development

  • Proper termination policies

  • Unemployment claims assistance

  • Assistance with employee wage or payroll disputes

  • Pre-employment screening

Employer vs. employee disputes are now one of the largest areas of litigation in the country. As it is with workplace accidents, employee lawsuits are best handled before they happen - with preparation and prevention. For this reason, professional human resource practice is a must for business owners.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

With the expansion of group insurance benefits and the almost universal reliance upon the employer as the vehicle to provide medical, dental, life, and retirement benefits, an employer's benefit package is now essential to attracting and retaining the best employees. This is a continuing problem for the small business owner. He/she simply does not have the dollars to obtain either quality insurance products or expert consulting that is necessary to compete with larger employers for the best employees.

ERA provides not only benefit programs that are competitive with large corporate programs, but also the expertise to maintain these programs and professionally manage them. Most of the Professional Employer Organizations that compete with ERA have respectable benefit programs. However, few have "In House" professionals to make sure that the benefit plans remain viable and useful to their clients.

ERA offers:

  • Medical plans with Pharmacy cards

  • Dental plans

  • Life / AD&D plans

  • Section 125 Cafeteria plans

  • 401(K) Program

  • Disability income and various optional benefits for the employees
